Completed Tasks

After several meetings with the client, we know the following:

1. The mosquito trap will be deployed near the border of Mexico.

2. The type of mosquito we will be collecting: Culex tarsalis, Culex quinquefasciatus.

3.  The traps’ signal will be sent to Flagstaff or other collaborators located closer to the trap location if the distance is not feasible for the devices used.

4.  The trap will operate during the times of dusk and dawn when the mosquitoes are most active.

5.  Researched Ultrasonic sensor and Passive InfraRed sensor and conducted testing of the sensors.

6.  Researched and tested prototypes of receivers and transmitters Researched and tested Wi-Fi module for transmission of the detection signal.

7.  Researched and tested a sound sensor and a microphone amplifier Researched and simulated various bandpass filters for the detection circuit to filter specific frequencies of the mosquitoes wing beats.

8.  Constructed and tested a transmission circuit using a LoRa transmitter and receiver and an Arduino microcontroller.

9.  Constructed and tested a detection circuit using a Microphone Amplifier Sensor, a bandpass filter and an Arduino microcontroller.
